RinCon 2010

I want to thank everyone who came out to support our demos, tournaments and products at this years RinCon gaming event in Tucson. We had a wonderful time demoing games, talking about the world of Rynaga and most importantly, getting to know all of you a bit better.

Congrats to Melissa who was the winner of our first ever Iconica tournament. She was undefeated during demo play and went on to win three straight matches to be our tourney champion on Saturday!

Sunday was equally exciting when a challenger named Mark, new to Iconica, entered Sunday's tournament and won a close victory against runner up Scott. Their battle was one to remember.

A couple of comments we received really reinforced our belief that Iconica is something special in the gaming world:
"I've been gaming for 15 years and I can say Iconica is game that is not only different, but fun." -Chris
"You guys have created a game with so much potential. Keep doing what you're doing." -Ed
"The art style drew me in, the gameplay kept me playing." -Chrissy
Thanks again everyone! We're excited about what's coming and look for information on Iconica Scenario cards very soon.

-Safe travels!

  1. What card combos did she use to complete this feat?

  2. @zamoose - She used card from the Iconica starter set only. Her build was Silentwood Hunter, Karkalan Dreadnaut and Shadowhand Agent. Unlike many players, we observed that she did not focus on one character until it was eliminated (Hmmm, a tip possibly?), rather she focused on applying the right action to the right character at the right time.

I should also note that she faced other players who did have access to the complete first set of cards. Of course dice rolls play a part, but Melissa was a very observant player which aided her greatly.

  3. Intriguing... I tend for the single card elimination tactic as well.

  4. @zamoose - As do I. This tactic has merit for sure! Yet, as we work on Iconica series two, we're starting to see some interesting opportunities for countering this tactic. In the end, I think diversity of character types will offer more challenges to this approach towards victory.

  5. RinCon was a blast and it was very exciting to share Iconica with new players. I think my favorite parts about demoing the game was the enthusiasm of new players about the game, how quickly they picked up the rules and how much the players loved the Eric's art.

  6. This is awesome news! It's also great to hear about the scenarios that could be coming out. I keep trying to introduce people to it around me when I get the chance.

  9. I really wanted to get by the booth and do a demo, but I finally had enough free time to do so right after all the booths closed! At least I was able to get my hands on a copy through a friend -- I hope to get a chance to play this weekend.

It was great having you at RinCon 10!

  10. Definitely had a great time there! I was glad to be present for the first ever tournament. The best part was seeing some hardcore RPG gamers give Iconica a chance and when they did... Well, most had to pick it up!
